CULLMAN – On Saturday, March 5 the Cullman Lions Club will hold its annual Fish and Ham Dinner. The event, which the organization has been hosting since 1971, is the club’s second biggest fundraiser next to the Cullman County Fair.
The dinner will be from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. in the cafeteria at Cullman Middle School. Patrons can eat in, carry out or pick up from the drive thru.
“When anyone comes (to the ham and fish dinner), they’re making a donation to us, and we’re in turn just putting that money right back into the community,” said Tommy Warhurst, member of the Cullman Lions Club and leader of the two biggest fundraising committees in the club.
The menu for this year is a choice of catfish filet or ham, baked potato, slaw, hush puppies, dessert and drink, all for just $10.
“The cost of everything has gone up since we’ve been doing this,” Warhurst said. “But the price of the plates has stayed the same. We’ve worked hard to keep the price down for people.”
Plates can be purchased the day of the event; no advanced purchases necessary; however, tickets are available from any Lions Club member or from Rennards Gallery, The Brandin’ Iron, Peek Auto Parts, Ponder Wrecker Service, Business Solutions of Cullman, Ed White Jewelers, Doug Doggett Jewelers, Cullman Veterinary Hospital or East Side Barber Shop.
