Obituary: Deborah Gay Gillon

Funeral Service for Mrs. Deborah Gay Bahr Gillon, age 60, of Cullman, will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at Northside Baptist Church. She will lie in state one hour prior to service. Rev. Truman Davis and Rev. Jack Collins officiating. Interment will be at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery at Vinemont.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gillon passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born November 12, 1955 in Cullman, to Ruby McGukin Bahr and the late Raymond "Sonny" Bahr.

On March 12, 1978, she married Dan Gillon at Enon Baptist Church.

She was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Cullman where she served as an active member of the Encouragers, the adult choir, and as youth Sunday school teacher. She grew up attending Enon Baptist Church. She enjoyed catering, baking, and spending time with family.

Mrs. Gillon graduated from Vinemont High School in 1974, graduated from Montevallo in 1977, and went on to receive a Master's in Education. She was employed by Albert P. Brewer High School from August 1977 until her retirement in May 2015.

She is preceded in death by her father,

Survivors include her mother; husband, Dan Gillon of Cullman; daughter, DeLisa (David) Whittaker of McCalla; son, Dustin (Jessica) Gillon of Nashville, TN; daughter, DeAndrea (Michael) Thompson of Cullman; grandchildren, Makayla Whittaker, Dalton Gillon, Tanner Gillon, Marlee Vinci, Asher Thompson, and Broden Thompson; and sister, Sharon (Stephen) Brumley of Vinemont.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, February 29 at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home.
