MONTGOMERY – On March 1, the Office of the Secretary of State John Merrill will conduct a project to collect and report results for the state’s Primary Election. The election night results will be reported to the Secretary of State’s website at http://www.alabamavotes.gov/.
After the polls have closed on Tuesday at 7 p.m., the first results will be electronically transmitted to the Office of the Secretary of State and streamed to the website. Polls do not close until 7 p.m. CST, and election results will be displayed and updated as precincts begin to report. This will include, but is not limited to, presidential primary results, federal, state and local elections, as well as all amendments.
“For the first time in the history of our state, all 67 counties have committed to participate in our election night reporting,” said Merrill. “We want everyone who is interested, including media outlets, citizens and elected officials, to have the opportunity to view the results of the SEC Primary in real time. This will be a great resource for our citizens by ensuring the information is readily available. I want to thank Alabama’s probate judges and other county officials for their partnership with this project. This launch would not have been possible without their full support and outstanding leadership.”
