Hilda Jean Pelt Mays, 70 of Hamilton, entered into rest on February 15, 2016 at her home.
Mrs. Mays was born March 21, 1945. She enjoyed gardening, reading Louis L'amour books and enjoyed bird watching. Jean loved her pets, Cally the cat, Ashley and Cristopher her fish, and Andy her dog.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 6 p.m. until p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where services will be held Friday, February 19, 2016 at 3 p.m. Brother Steve Lawley will officiate. Burial will follow in Winston Memorial Cemetery.
She is survived by her son, Joseph (Tiffany) Mays; sisters, Bertha (Tommy) Gillilan and Dorothy Gillilan and a host of friends. She was "Nana" to one grandson, Cristopher Mays.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Odie Mays; parents, Leo and Lola Pelt; brother, Jimmy Pelt; and sisters, Marie Mays and Lois Pelt.
