CULLMAN – Users of Facebook or readers of news online or in print in Cullman County no doubt know Dave Warren’s work. His photographs and videos, particularly the aerial ones, have been bringing the area to life in a new way for the past two years.
So who is this master of breathtaking landscapes? Dave Warren, a transplant to Cullman County from Bessemer, began taking photos in 2014.
Since then, Warren acquired a drone and with it shows the public a new perspective on Cullman County and the events that take place here. In fact, Warren has been able to shoot some of the most extreme events in Cullman’s history.
“I've been fortunate enough to be able to video some pretty cool things. My top three in no order would be Rock the South, the Winter Storm of 2015 (early 2015) and the Christmas Flood of 2015,” Warren said.
Warren said that, while there is not a specific process he uses when engaging in photographing an event, he does take a certain approach.
“I just try to visualize what will make a great shot and just go after it,” he said.
Warren has a website, cullmanaerialphotography.com, and multiple social media accounts to which he uploads his work, including jaw-dropping footage of the Christmas Day Flood.
“When people look at my pictures, I want them to have no doubt that there is a God and that he created everything for his glory,” Warren said. “This area is unique in its own way. The thing about drone photography is that it's new and it brings a new perspective on everything. I think that's why my photography is so popular.”
