CULLMAN – Christians Living Proof Ministries is a group of people seeking God’s own heart, in order to serve mankind just as Jesus did. Their goal is to revitalize the city of Cullman. They want to see the Gospel preached to the poor and depicted in action as a demonstration of the power of God’s love. Garret Taylor has been working with this ministry since it was founded on May 19, 2009.
Taylor has been married to his lovely wife Stephanie for 13 years. The two met while attending school together at West Point. Right after graduation, Taylor studied the bail surety business at the University of Alabama.
He’s the first one to admit, he wasn’t always a preacher.
“As a little boy I knew about God and I believed he was calling me to do something, but I wasn’t sure what,” he began. “At the age of 13 I started getting into drugs at school and hanging out with the older crowd. In seventh grade I was getting into lots of trouble, getting kicked out of multiple schools. I was a really troubled child and my mother couldn’t handle me so I had to move in with my dad. Everything seemed to quiet down for awhile, that is until I got my driver’s license. That’s when I started doing drugs and selling them again.”

Taylor was candid about his history of drug abuse.
“I was hooked,” he shrugged. “I loved the party scene and all the worldly extras that came with it. Friends introduced me to cocaine, ecstasy, pills and crack. I started smoking weed just as if it was cigarettes. I was also addicted to sex and the partying atmosphere, which led to a lack of sleep. I overdosed on GHB and cocaine three different times. The last time, as I lay dying on the floor of a friend’s house, God spoke to me and said, ‘This is your last time. Get in or get out. I’m tired of messing with you!’ This had happened before and GOD would always get me out of it, but this time I knew this was it. It felt as though I would never wake up. I was a dead man, but I chose God.”
Taylor says that when we awoke the next morning, he realized that the night before he’d made a commitment to God.
“I told him, ‘If you get me out of this, I will do whatever you want,’ and that’s how it began.”
Taylor gave his life to Christ that day and says he was completely delivered. Now, 14 years later, God continues to play a major part in his life. Garret uses his experiences to speak at various rehabilitation centers and churches. He has been a part of many mission trips across the world including Haiti, Aruba, Brazil, Curacao and Africa. He is the leader and co-founder of four different ministries – Christians Living Proof Ministries, Bread of Life Storehouse, Proverbs 24:11 Rescue Ministry and Wrekd & Awakend Youth Ministries.
