CULLMAN — Christmas in Cullman, a full day of holiday fun and festivities, is this Saturday, Dec. 12, downtown. In addition to the festival, area businesses will be offering last minute Christmas specials. The event is for the entire family and all activities are free.

Things kick off at 10 a.m. at the Dinkleberg Outdoor Christmas Market at St. John’s Evangelical Church, located at 512 Second Ave. S.E. The market will feature European-style arts and crafts and will last until 5 p.m.

Happening next door to the market, also from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., will be the Outdoor Expo sponsored by Cullman City Parks and Recreation (CP&R). Enjoy off-road vehicles, hunting and fishing gear, boats and other outdoor items.

The Christmas parade will begin at 6 p.m., with floats decked out in beautiful lights. The parade route will follow First Avenue from the Busy Bee Café to the Festhalle Farmer’s Market.

“The lighted parade will probably have double the floats than what we had last year, as far as the entries go, so it will probably be a lot prettier parade than last year’s,” said Waid Harbison, marketing, programs and events coordinator for CP&R.

Rounding out the day will be a host of post-parade activities at Depot Park. There will be free kids’ games, pictures with Santa, drama performances by Cullman High School students, live music, singing and a Christmas movie on a huge screen.

“CP&R is proud to be a part of this year’s Christmas in Cullman,” he continued. “CP&R, along with our partners at the Downtown Merchants Association, Cullman Chamber of Commerce, several local churches and other organizations, will be working together to bring the biggest and best Christmas in Cullman this season.”
