GOOD HOPE — The Hornets used a stingy defense to defeat the Raiders 31-15. Locust Fork scored on their first series when Chase Rice took it 31 yards for the score, the PAT was good and the Hornets had an early 7-0 lead, and the defense took over, forcing 4 sacks in the 1st quarter.
Locust Fork would score twice in the 2nd frame, the first came on a 36-yard pass from Rice to Dylon Hurst, then Jonathan Payne found the end zone from 5 yards out, both extra point attempts failed and Locust Fork went in at the half up 19-0.
The 3rd quarter saw the Hornets score once again. This time, Rice broke free for a 50-yard touchdown, the PAT failed and Locust Fork held a 25-0 lead at the end of the 3rd.
Good Hope was not going away without a fight though. Jonathan Burnette would score from 11 yards out and Damian Rodriguez would add the extra point to bring the score to 25-7.
Locust Fork would answer on their next series with a 4-yard run by Hunter Biles, the PAT failed. Good Hope would strike right back. This time Eisner hit Matt Cofer for the 43-yard score, Lee Whisenant would add the 2 point conversion to bring the final score to Locust Fork 31 Good Hope 15.
Good Hope will host Priceville next week in another region match up.
