HANCEVILLE – The Hanceville Police Department is hosting the seventh annual Kids Night Out on August 7 at Hanceville’s C.W. Day Park. The event will run from 6 – 8 p.m.

The event will host free food, inflatables, and games for the whole family. Local police and fire departments will be there to promote law enforcement, fire, and EMTs in a positive way.

The event gives the youth of Cullman County an opportunity to meet the people that protect and serve them every day. Attendees also get a chance to examine the equipment that is utilized by the departments, such as firetrucks and helicopters.

According to Hanceville Police Chief, Bob Long, “First responders all gather for a great time. I rode the mechanical bull last year. All the kids loved it. CPD helicopter is always a big hit with the kids.”

Businesses from all over Hanceville and Cullman County have donated to the event. American Protein and The Shrine are two of the largest supporters. “We have numerous businesses that support us in a huge way,” Long stated. “We appreciate their support every year.”

The event collects approximately $4,000 in cash and school supplies.

This year they are providing 650 elementary students with supplies.

“We are a little short this year, but we have a couple weeks left to make it,” said Long.

There is still time to make a donation by sending a check to Hanceville City Hall, ATTN. Kids Night Out, 112 Main Street SE, Hanceville, AL 35077.

C.W. Day Park is located at 203 Michelle Street NW, Hanceville, AL 35077.
