CULLMAN – The Cullman Police Department, along with Alabama State Troopers, Cullman EMA and Cullman County Sheriff’s Office are currently working a deadly collision in the southbound lane at the intersection of Ala. Hwy 157 and I-65, after a Cullman resident rear-ended an 18-wheeler hauling hazardous material.
“At this time we are asking residents to please avoid the area as one of the vehicles involved is carrying hazardous material, anhydrous ammonia to be exact,” Cullman Police Officer Matt Tucker said. “The incident occurred shortly before 5:45 p.m.”
Tucker said the deceased is a male Cullman resident, however, his name has not been released at this time as family members are being contacted.
“Right now it is still under investigation but it appears the deceased rear-ended the 18-wheeler,” Officer Tucker said. “He was pronounced deceased on scene.”
