Subject Apprehended in Bremen Shooting Incident; Victim in Stable Condition

BREMEN – Just before noon Sunday the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting call near 417 Co Rd 109 in Bremen. Sheriff’s deputies began an active search for the alleged shooter, 70 year old Jack Wilson, who was to be driving a white 1999 Chevrolet S-10.

According to Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry, deputies and investigators began the search and within a few hours Mr. Wilson was apprehended. 

“I just want to thank the hard work of the deputies, investigators and the citizens that assisted in the arrest of Mr. Wilson,” said Sheriff Gentry.  

Sheriff Gentry said the victim, Johnny Bentley, 38, is a neighbor of Wilson. He said investigators are continuing to look into the cause of the shooting. 

Bentley’s condition was last updated from serious to stable shortly after 6 p.m. on Sunday. Sheriff Gentry said Jack Wilson has been charged with attempted murder – 1st and unlawful possession of marijuana – 1st degree and he is currently being held at the Cullman County Detention Center with no bond.

The subject has been apprehended and the victim is in stable condition according to Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry.


BREMEN – Just at noon today a shooting took place in Bremen, Ala. Currently Cullman County Sheriff’s deputies and investigators are actively investigating this incident.

CCSO is asking the public to stay away from the area nearest to 417 Co Rd 109 in Bremen as the active search and investigation continues.

Sheriff Matt Gentry said the department is asking the public’s assistance in locating Jack Wilson, a person of interest in the incident.

“He is described as being a 70 y/o white male,” said Gentry. “He is driving a White 1999 Chevrolet S-10.”
