TRIMBLESmith Lake Park hosted a two day Music Festival over the Memorial Day weekend, May 23rd and 24th. There were arts and crafts vendors, food carts of all kinds and live entertainment for everyone to enjoy. There were also contests and fun people of all ages to enjoy. The weekend also marked the opening of the swimming pool and putt-putt golf course as well. There was free admission to the park and most all the campsites were occupied.

“We had adult and child divisions ice cream eating and Pepsi chugging contests this afternoon,” said Doug Davenport, Cullman County Parks and Rec Director. “One guy ate fifteen cups of ice cream, and then he entered the Pepsi chugging contest,” he chuckled.

“We also had adult and children’s hula hoop contests and then the golf cart parade. It’s a good weekend for Parks and Rec.”

The weather was beautiful and people had a wonderful time enjoying the park and all the great fun it has to offer.

"This is our first time here,” said Stacy McDowell, a craft vendor from Boaz. “I brought my kids with me and my husband, so we’re having a family day. It’s been a blast. This place is gorgeous,” she smiled happily.

“I just found out about the festival this week and they were really nice to let me come in and set up a booth at the very last minute. It’s been just like a little family vacation, while Mom sells some things,” she giggled.

The music lineup was great all weekend. On Saturday, Jolly Rogers, Gerald Brown and Bama Country played away for the crowds of people who gathered to listen and Sunday afternoon, Union Grove Bluegrass and the Heaton Brothers impressed all within an earshot.
