TRIMBLE – Smith Lake Park was the place to be this past Saturday as the community gathered together and held a mammoth yard sale. Attendees walked from booth to booth with their arms loaded with goodies. Whether the items being sold were just to make a little extra cash or were the result of some serious spring cleaning, each seller had his or her own different reasons for being there.
“I have brought some antiques and stuff that I’ve shock painted to try and sell today,” said Beth Kicker.
“I am trying to raise money for our son Dawson’s doctor bills. He is 9 years old and suffers from seizures. This is the first time I’ve sold anything here, but I have sold a few things at other sales around town.”
Yard sales are great for people of all ages. There is almost always something for everyone.
“We have been to the other community yard sales they’ve had and were able to find 3-year-old Rylan lots of things, he loves to look at all the toys,” said shopper Amy Moore as she clasped the little boy’s hand in hers.
“I think the community yard sales are a good idea. Some people have more flea market items, but for the people who are actually doing the yard sale part, they have a really nice setup and offer some really great deals,” said Lela Carlile, smiling as she showed off the bargains she had found.
Those that missed Saturday’s yard sale missed a good one. Smith Lake Park provided the perfect place to enjoy the beautiful weather and spend the day in pursuit of excellent buys.
