CULLMAN – The Chamber of Commerce’s 72nd Annual Meeting & Gala is scheduled for Thurs, Feb. 19, 2015. The theme of this year’s gala is the "Magic of Success" as the featured speaker for the night will be Atlanta magician, mentalist and speaker Joe Turner. The event will also celebrate the past year's accomplishments under Jason Grimmett's leadership as the Chairman of the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce. It will also kick-off a new year of programs and activities for 2015-16.

“Our membership will be entertained, educated and inspired by our keynote speaker Joe Turner,” said Leah Bolin, the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce’s President and CEO. “He comes from a corporate background, but turned his hobby into a career. We will see how his illusion and magic can help us better understand our business and our customers.”

Our membership will be entertained, educated and inspired.” – Leah Bolin

Grimmett didn’t become the Chamber’s Chair under the usual circumstances, but that hasn’t stopped him from working hard and becoming a true asset to the Chamber.

“This year has been a bit unusual,” explained Bolin. “We lost our chairman, Jim Weidner, in the first chamber quarter of 2014. Jason Grimmett has been gracious enough to move from incoming chair to the 2014-2015 Chair position and Melissa Cartee has agreed to remain in the Immediate Past Chair position for one more year. At this year’s annual meeting, Melissa will ceremoniously pass the gavel to Jason. It has been a great year full of new programs and events.”

This year's program will also feature the presentations of the annual Emma Marie Eddleman Citizen of the Year Award, the Lucile Galin Public Service Award, and the Small Business of the Year Award.

“Part of our mission is to bring recognition to those outstanding businesses and leaders in the Cullman Area,” Bolin continued. “We will honor those who have gone beyond the call of duty with the Emma Marie Eddleman Citizen of the Year Award, the Lucille Galin Public Service Award, and the Small Business of the Year Award. In regards to the latter, each month the Retail Committee selects a Small business of the month. These businesses are in the running for Small Business of the Year.”

The event will prove to be very educational and all who are in attendance will have a great time. It will be held at the Brown Stone Centre at Stone Bridge Farms, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the program beginning at 6 p.m. The Post Party will be from 8-10:30 p.m. A limited number of general admission tickets still remain and are available for $50 per person.
