Funeral services for Uyless Stewart, 80, of Cullman will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel; Sam Hollis officiating; with interment in Duck River Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Stewart passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at his residence. He retired as a medic with the rank of Sergeant First Class from the US Army; having served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and the Panama Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Irona Herndon Stewart; two brothers, James B. “Junior” Stewart and Joe Stewart; sister, Thelma (Bill) Counts and a grandson, Tim Brooks.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Stewart; children, Marie (Roger) Briscoe and Donna (Mike) Burleson; grandchildren, Michael (Bonnie) Brooks, David (Martha) Brooks, Stewart Burleson, Michelle Burleson, Stephen Burleson and Zachery (Brittany) Briscoe; seven great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Stella Stewart and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the East Side Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.
