School bus collision sends 6 Fairview students, 2 others to hospital for evaluation

A second school bus arrives to take students home following a traffic collision on County Road 1658 in Fairivew.

FAIRVIEW – At approximately 3:30 p.m. a school bus carrying students from Fairview Elementary, Middle and High School was involved in a traffic collision with another vehicle, causing six students and two persons in the passenger vehicle to be transported to an area hospital for evaluation.

“The incident occurred in a turn on the 400 block of County Road 1658 in Fairview,” Sheriff Mike Rainey said. “At this time we have had 6 students transported to the hospital for basic observations just to ensure they are alright. We’ve also had two others from the vehicle transported to the hospital as well.”

The school bus was carrying 28 students at the time of the incident. Rainey said a second school bus was brought in to take the rest of the students home.

The cause of the incident is under investigation. CS will bring you more as information is made available.
