Funeral services for John Richard ‘Buck’ Day, 76, of Vinemont will be at 2 p.m., Monday, November 24th, 2014 at Mt. Vernon First Congregational Methodist Church, Revs. Glenn McCain, Vernon Willis and Wayne Jetton officiating with interment in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 1-2 p.m.
Cullman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Day passed away Saturday, November at his residence. He was born August 15, 1938 to parents, William R. and Nettie Lee Tolbert Day. He retired from the city of Cullman and John was a member of Mt. Vernon Methodist Church. He loved talking with friends on his CB radio and his handle was ‘daylight’. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time with family and loved singing in church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Braxton ‘Butch’ Braswell; mother-in-law, Effie Braswell; a daughter, Tina Morgan; brothers, Rev. Donald Ray Day, Billy Joe Day and Edward Day
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Coletta Braswell Day; daughters, Darla (Charlie) Reese, Donna (Michael) Mann, Patti Gillis; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; Sisters, Judy (Charlie) Freeman, Annette Stapler, Shelby (Larry) Barker, Vickie (Jeff) Quick; brothers, Allen (Sue) Day, James (Wanda) Day; sister-in-law, Rena Day; host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday evening at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
