PREP FOOTBALL: Good Hope gets the win 28-7 over J.B. Pennington

GOOD HOPE – The Good Hope Raiders put a W in the win column by defeating the J. B. Pennington Tigers 28-7.The Tigers had the only score in the first quarter on a one yard run from Brandon Butts, The PAT was good and the Tigers led 7-0 at the end of the first.

 

Good Hope got on the scoreboard when Riley Eisner found Austin Reid for the 16 yard score, the PAT failed and the Raiders trailed 7-6. Later in the second quarter the Raiders would take the lead when Eisner hit Kainan Smith with a 44-yard screen pass for the score, putting the Good Hope up 12-7 at the half.

 

The Tigers regained the lead in the third quarter when Jacob Washburn scrambled from 62 yards out, to put J.B. Pennington up 14-12.

 

Good Hope answered on their next series as Jared McClure carried it in from the 4 yard line. McClure ran in the 2-point conversion to give Good Hope a 20-14 lead heading into the final quarter.

 

In the fourth Eisner found Smith again this time from 3 yards out. Eisner connected with Reece Harbison for the 2-point conversion and the Raiders extended

their lead to 28-14. The Tigers weren’t giving up easily, as Brandon Butts found Miquel Sanchez from 18 yards out to pull J.B. Pennington within a score, trailing 28-21 with 1:57 remaining in the game.

 

Good Hope dashed any hopes of a comeback as the Raiders were able to secure the onside kick before running out the clock out for their first win on the season.

 

Good Hope will travel to Curry for next week's game
