CULLMAN – For the 22nd year, Cullman City Parks & Recreation and Eva Bank will be holding the annual Midnight 5K Run on this Friday. Every year, hundreds of people fill the streets around the Cullman Civic Center and lace up their running shoes for a unique 5K experience.

“It’s a staple for our Parks and Rec department,” Waid Harbison, marketing director for Cullman Parks & Recreation, said. “We started out with just a couple hundred people over 20 years ago, and now we have 800 to 1,000 people show up. It’s a unique run, so we have people from all over come out to run.”

The race will start and end at the Cullman Civic Center, and there will be plenty of light for runners to see. Cullman Police will be blocking off the streets for the race and helping to keep everyone safe. Registration is available up until the race itself. On the 14th and 15th, however, the price of registration will only be available at the Civic Center and will be $30. Registration before that point will be $25.

Pre-registered runners can check-in from 5-7 p.m. on race day, or check-in from 10-11:45 p.m. with late registrants. Overall male and female runners will win $250, and masters male and female winners will receive a $200 prize. If you think you have what it takes to win, sign up now, and support our local Parks & Recreation Department. For more information, please call 256-734-9157.
