Winter Storm Warning valid tonight from 9 PM CST for Cullman, DeKalb, Marshall [AL] till Saturday, March 12, 9 AM CST

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – IEMBot Huntsville has expanded the area of Winter Storm Warning to include Cullman County beginning Friday night from 9:00 p.m. – 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for north Alabama and portions of southern middle Tennessee.

Overnight 

A strong arctic front will bring snow, bitter cold air and gusty winds to the Tennessee Valley late this evening and overnight. 

Periods of moderate to locally heavy snow will be possible, especially across southern middle Tennessee and portions of northeastern Alabama. Slick travel will. likely develop around midnight and continue into Saturday morning.

Additionally, strong gusty winds will develop overnight with gusts up to 45 mph. A Wind Advisory is in effect for the entire region.

Saturday through Thursday

Snow will taper off Saturday morning, but hazardous travel conditions may persist in many areas much of the day. Blustery winds gusting up to 40 mph can also be expected through noon.

An arctic air mass will settle into the area Saturday night, resulting in potentially record low temperatures in the teens and bitter cold wind chills into the single digits.

Activation of storm spotters and emergency management personnel is not anticipated at this time, but any reports of snow are appreciated.
