Nation mourns the loss of 13 United States service members in Thursday’s bombing in Kabul

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – The 13 United States service members killed last Thursday by an Isis-K suicide bomber at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul arrived at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware Sunday. President Joe Biden met with the family members of the 11 Marines, one Army soldier and one Navy sailor prior to the dignified transfer of the flag draped cases carrying the remains of the fallen service members. 

The 13 service members have been identified as:

(Pictured above) USMC Sgt. Johanny Rosario Pichardo, 25, of Lawrence, Massachusetts. Sgt. Rosario served as a supply chief for the 5th Marine Expeditionary Brigade and had served in the United States Marine Corp for 6.5 years.

USMC Cpl. Hunter Lopez, 22, of Coachella Valley, California. Lopez joined the United States Marine Corps on September 5, 2017 and was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines.

USMC Lance Cpl. Kareem Nikoui, 22, of Norco, California. Lance Corporal Nikoui was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Division.

USMC Lance Cpl. Rylee McCollum, 20, of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Lance Cpl. McCollum was a rifleman with the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Division.

USMC Lance Cpl. Jared Schmitz, 20, of St. Charles, Missouri. Lance Cpl. Schmitz was a rifleman with the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Division.

USMC Lance Cpl. David Lee Espinoza, 20, of Loredo, Texas. Cpl. Espinoza was a rifleman with the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Division.

US Navy Corpsman Maxton Soviak, 22, of Berlin Heights, Ohio. He was assigned to the 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. His occupation was medic.

USMC SSgt. Darin Taylor Hoover, 31, of Midvale, Utah. His military occupation specialty was infantry unit leader with the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Division. He served in the USMC for 11 years.

USMC Cpl. Daegan Page, 23, of Omaha, Nebraska. Cpl. Page was a rifleman with the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Division.

US Army Staff Sgt. Ryan Knauss, 23, of Corryton, Tennessee. Staff Sgt. Knauss was assigned to 9th PSYOP Battalion, 8th PSYOP Group, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.

USMC Cpl. Humberto Sanchez, 22, of Logansport, Indiana. Cpl. Sanchez was a rifleman with the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Division.

USMC Sgt. Nicole Gee, 23, of Sacramento, California. Sgt. Gee was assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 24, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Gee entered the United States Marine Corps in 2017.

USMC Lance Cpl. Dylan R. Merola, 20, of Rancho Cucamonga, California. Lance Cpl. Merola was a rifleman with the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Division.
