HARTSELLE – The long-time heated rivalry between Cullman and Hartselle seemed to have hindered the Bearcats’ performance with a devastating loss to the Tigers after a well-played game against Athens last week. The final score of the night was 28-0, Hartselle dominating with their home field advantage.

As the game kicked off, Hartselle’s defense astounded Cullman by preventing the Bearcats from moving the ball down the field. Cullman’s offense could not contain the power of the defense, ultimately forcing them into punting. Jamal Jackson, receiving the punt for the Tigers, returned the ball for an outstanding 80 yard touchdown.

The Bearcats led the start of the second quarter with control of the ball but soon after lost their advantage when Jaylan Jackson intercepted Ross Crocker’s pass, which initially led to the Tiger’s second touchdown of the game. Cullman’s offense faltered during their second drive of the second quarter when they fumbled the ball to be recovered by Hartselle. The Bearcats were able to hold the defense into punting but lost the ball to an interception made by Jaylan Jackson once again during their offensive drive. Hartselle scored soon after the interception, bringing the score to 21-0.

Hartselle’s untouchable offense proved their determination and power when they flawlessly rushed in the final touchdown of the game for a final score of 28-0. Later on, Holden Langston of the Tigers was able to intercept the ball to give his team control for the last minute and a half of the game, preventing the Bearcats from any more offensive drives.
