Funeral arrangements announced for County sanitation worker killed Thursday

CULLMAN –  Visitation and funeral arrangements for Cullman County Sanitation Department employee Harold Jamie Dickey have been announced. Visitation will be Saturday, June 11 from 6-8 p.m. at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home. The funeral will be held on Sunday, June 12 at 3 p.m. at the same location.

Dickey, 34, was killed Thursday morning when another vehicle slammed into the back of the sanitation truck he was on. The incident occurred on U.S. Highway 231 South near the Arab Stockyard, in the section of Arab that is in Cullman County.

"Our employees are dedicated to public service, and Jamie was no exception," Cullman County Commission Chairman Kenneth Walker said in a statement shortly after the incident. "Jamie was a valuable part of our County work force, and he will be greatly missed.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jamie's family, his wife and children."

Dickey leaves behind a wife, a daughter and a son.
