CULLMAN – On Saturday, with competition from multiple community events and the southern fall mainstay college football, Cullmanites still turned out in generous numbers for the second exotic pet expo to be held in the city this year.  Shoppers checked out reptiles and rodents, hedgehogs and ferrets, and quite a few critters rarely seen in these parts.

Event coordinator Ron Billingsley, from Indiana, sort of inherited the show when a longtime promoter retired, giving up his shows in Gardendale.  Billingsley picked up the mantle but found Cullman to be a more inviting venue for the show.  He made his first stop here this past summer.

The second show drew more vendors than the first and saw shopper turnout that Billingsley described as “phenomenal.”  He plans to make exotic pet shows in Cullman regular events, already scheduling another show at the Cullman Civic Center for Jan. 19.
