Decatur Heritage upsets Addison in North Super Regional Finals

HUNTSVILLE – For the North Super Regional championship, No. 2 Decatur Heritage got the best of No. 1 ranked Addison Friday night at the Von Braun Center.

The Lady Eagles took the regional crown by sweeping the Lady Bulldogs 25-22, 25-23, 25-20.

Despite the loss in the finals, Addison is back in the "Elite Eight" next week at the Crossplex in Birmingham.

The Lady Bulldogs will go in with a record of 39-19 while Decatur Heritage takes the top berth from the region and will be 40-8.

Addison faced a hard semifinal earlier in the afternoon against No. 3 Donoho. The Lady Bulldogs lost the opening set 25-15, then went to work to take the next three games, 25-23, 25-14, 25-11.

Decatur Heritage earned a berth to the finals by romping over Sacred Heart Catholic 25-8, 25-7, 25-21.

The game time and opposition will be announced after the weekend. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played Wednesday with the championship to be next Thursday. The format is single elimination with each match the best of five.

Addison won the 2015 state title in Class 2A and dropped down to the 1A classification this season.
