CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman City Schools Foundation on Thursday, April 6, hosted its 12th annual Distinguished Alumni and Service Awards Luncheon. The event honored Teachers of the Year, as well as the 2023 Distinguished Alumni Award and 2023 Distinguished Service Award winners.
“On behalf of our teachers, I want to thank those who contribute to this foundation. Because of your contributions, we’re able to supplement materials and supplies. They’re having a direct impact on student achievement,” Cullman City Schools Superintendent Kyle Kallhoff said in his opening remarks.
Honored as Teachers of the Year for the 2022-2023 school year were:
- Amanda Stidham– Cullman City Primary School and Overall Elementary Teacher of the Year
- Katie McGee– Cullman Middle School and Overall Secondary Teacher of the Year
- Beth Collins– East Elementary School Teacher of the Year
- Mary Beth Cleveland– West Elementary School Teacher of the Year
- Lori Andrews– Cullman High School Teacher of the Year
Kris Allred, who graduated from Cullman High School in 1995 and is now the chief meteorologist at WSAV in Savannah, Georgia, was the recipient of the 2023 Cullman City Schools Foundation Distinguished Alumna Award. Ashley Lee Wilson, who graduated from Cullman High in 1992 and is the founder of local nonprofit Curt’s Closet, was honored with the 2023 Cullman City Schools Foundation Distinguished Service Award. Find out more about Wilson’s work at www.sites.google.com/view/curtscloset.
Entertainment for the luncheon included the Cullman High School theater department, members of which performed songs from the group’s upcoming show “Newies.”
