PREP FOOTBALL: Warriors handled at home by Dora, 50-29

WEST POINT –West Point’s defense had its hands full Friday night when the Warriors fell 50-29 at home against the visiting Dora Bulldogs.

Dora (4-3, 3-2) scored three first-quarter touchdowns, the first on a 25-yard run by quarterback Averion Berry for a 6-0 edge. Jordan Foy got the first of two touchdowns on a 12-yard run at the 2:24 mark. Brady Spradlin kicked it to 13-0. The last score of the quarter came as Tavares Howard took a handoff and hit Darrien Wilkerson for a 40-yard strike to extend the lead to 20-0 after one frame.

West Point got its only points of the half on its next possession as Rylan Jones dove in from a yard out to narrow the lead to 20-7.

Dora answered on the next set of downs when Spradlin connected on a 42-yard field goal to make it 23-7.

The Bulldogs’ final score of the half came as Ikea Hosea scored the first of two touchdowns, this one on a 7-yard run for a 29-7 halftime lead.

Dora and West Point each scored twice in the third quarter. Dora got another 12-yard touchdown run from Foy and added a 52-yard run from Hosea. West Point got an 8-yard run from Jones, who also ran in the 2-point conversion. Will Cochran then hit Jones with a 40-yard strike ending the third-quarter scoring with Dora leading, 43-22.

Each team tallied one fourth-quarter score. Dora struck first when J.C. Collins raced 29 yards to pay dirt. The Warriors closed out the night’s scoring when Jones passed to Cochran for 43 yards to make the final score 50-29 in favor of the Bulldogs.

West Point falls to 2-5 on the year, 0-5 in the region, with a road matchup against Corner coming up next week.
