PREP FOOTBALL: North Jackson handles Aggies, 78-12

STEVENSON - Fairview (Class 4A, Region 7) traveled to Jackson County to take on the North Jackson Chiefs (Class 4A, Region 7) in hopes of keeping their playoff chances alive. After getting off to a quick start, the Aggies quickly fell behind and wound up falling in dramatic fashion, 78-12.

Fairview quickly got on the scoreboard on the opening kickoff as Dante Dumas took it 97 yards for the score with only 19 seconds off the clock. The rest of the first half belonged to North Jackson as the Chiefs quickly put up 37 unanswered points, including a safety. Lee Witherspoon accounted for all of those touchdowns to make it a 37-6 lead for the Chiefs.

But there was no quit in the Aggies as they got some help from North Jackson; a trio of penalties, plus big runs by Dayne Black and Tyvn Ellis, helped move Fairview closer and closer to the end zone and Black finished the drive off with a 5-yard score to whittle the deficit down to 37-12. But Witherspoon added two more rushing touchdowns to put the score at 50-12 going into the half.

North Jackson added four more touchdowns in the second half, and though the Aggies kept battling on both sides of the ball, the Chiefs took the game, ,78-12.

Fairview was held to just 111 yards of total offense. One of the positives from the game is that Dumas finished with well over 200 yards on kickoff returns. The Aggies fall to 2-4 on the season and 1-3 in region play; they will look to bounce back at West Morgan next Friday.
