Alleged domestic violence incident turns deadly in Hanceville

HANCEVILLE, Ala. – A Hanceville man is dead following an alleged domestic incident late Tuesday night, June 18.

Joseph Keith Chandler Jernigan, 37, was confirmed deceased by Cullman County Coroner Jeremy Kilpatrick following the incident, which occurred at Jernigan’s residence. 

“He had a single gunshot wound to the abdomen,” Kilpatrick said. “He was transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries related to his shooting.”

According to officials at the scene, an unnamed female allegedly admitted to shooting Jernigan after the incident.

The Hanceville Police Department is investigating. Currently, no charges have been pressed against the unnamed female.
